Aquamarijn Microsieve®

Aquamarijn introduces the microsieve® a micro filtration membrane that meets your specialised applications. The most important features are the precision etched pores (depending on your application, 0.1-20 µm) in a thin membrane (with a thickness of 0.5 to 5 µm) with a surface roughness down to 10 nm. The membrane material silicon nitride and is supported by a rigid silicon support. Alternative membrane material and/or support material is available.

New generation in micro filtration membranes
Evolution in filtration technology never stops. The Aquamarijn microsieve® is unique. It has many well defined pores with a controllable pore size and location in the membrane layer. The thickness in most cases is smaller than the pore size. Therefore the filter efficiency is much higher than for other filters.

Special properties of the microsieve® are:
Excellent pore size
pore size distributoin
Pore Size Distribution of different membranes compared
Perfectly controlled uniform perforations down to 0.1 µms are offered. The separation behaviour will strongly benefit from a narrow pore size distribution. This avoids the problem relating to non-uniform pore distributions, i.e. large particles slipping through the pores, particles that should have been retained. The Aquamarijn microsieve® has the most narrow pore size distribution ever possible. Moreover you are not restricted to circular shaped cross-sections for the pores, strongly elongated, square, rectangular cross-sections are also possible. The pores may be positioned on the membrane with a great freedom of design.

Excellent flow rate
microsieve flow
Clear Water Flux of a Microsieve
The flow rate of the Aquamarijn microsieve® is the highest yet available due to the uniform pore size, the high pore density and the small thickness of the membrane layer. The clear water flux is at least one order of magnitude larger than the best conventional filters and approaches nearly the theoretical maximum throughout the whole pore size range. In a cross-flow configuration fouling is easily prevented at relatively low cross-flow pressures due to the excellent overall flatness of the membrane layer. For anyone who would like to try the features of the microsieve, we sell high fluxx sieve membranes.
